today i finally get to reveal my newest vintage acquisition: this crazy beautiful 1940’s olive green coat! it was one of those truly serendipitous moments when i ran into mercy vintage at the last minute before my trip, looking for a fun little party dress. of course i ended up browsing through the coats on my way to the dressing room, and of course this coat popped right out at me. i tried it on thinking the big puff sleeves would probably swallow up my frame, but to my surprise, it fit like a glove! and so my poor wallet cried a single tear as i coughed up the dough…

but i’m happy to invest in a few statement coats here and there. and i’m quite pleased that while this coat is from the 1940’s, it’s still perfectly in tune with the current military trend we’ve been seeing in many of the fashion editorials. did you see the vogue march issue?

  10. great coat, and it'll be stylin' for years to come. someone mentioned the buttons, yeah those are unforgettable. and i love the shoulders. a real show stopper.

  11. The lime green lining is what really does it for me. What is it that's so seductive about linings? They are like fancy little secrets. Even if no one can see it, YOU know it's there, and that truly makes all the difference.

  12. what a great find! and it really is part of the latest utilitarian trend that's everywhere (didn't see vogue yet, but it's in harper's bazaar). great photos too!

  14. i love those buttons on the coat. they are a unique shape too. also love the shawl on top of the coat in some of those pics because you had to be freezing without it.

  15. Just so, so amazing. That looks so much fun to twirl in, which always adds ten points to any piece of clothing. Also, the colour = fantastic x473894637.

  16. I can't even begin to tell you how hard I would have slapped you in the left eye if we were both in that vintage shop, on the same dang, at the same moment. I would have pulled out my Thundercats "Cheetarah" moves and snatched that coat out of your hands and laughed when you cried!

I would have taunted you by looking over my shoulders at the counter as I paid and dared you to follow me out the door for it!

Going a little too far…..I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS COATDRESS! It gave me chills! I am not playing either…straight up CHILLS!!!!

  17. i think the coat was an excellent purchase! My wallet cries a lot too. LOL! i like the way you threw the shawl over the coat in the last few pics.. nice touch!
