polka dot

ah, it’s like a breath of fresh air to be back at home and fully settled, taking my daily outfit pictures on the rooftop again! this is the little outfit i put together for the hair party i mentioned in my last post. and to be perfectly honest, i threw this together because all of my laundry was in dirty piles on the floor and these were some of the only clean clothes i had available to wear. but i’ve said this before: laundry day is often the most creative day for me because i don’t have all of my go-to items available. that means i’m forced to think outside of the box and experiment with something a little bit different than what i might normally wear.

  1. i really like the shape of the dress and how you've styled it, but since its such a pure navy it doesn't seem to go as well with the muted tones of your top and tights. but that could very easily be me just being picky.

  2. Love how you did the dress with the tights. I have a polka dot dress too and never even thought about introducing another color!

  3. thank god for laundry days!! i just did laundry last night too and it feels really good to have all my go-to pieces back :) but i totally agree with you–this week was pretty hard for me hehe :) you look darling erin! i love the photos from the hair party too! you make me want to change my bob into something more dramatic!

  4. Great look! I have some strapless dresses that I'd love to wear, but it's been too cold..maybe I'll try something like this! Thanks for the inspiration.

  5. That is an adorable look and I love the contrast that the belt/tights/shoes give with the polka dots. "Laundry Day" definitely appears to be fashion-friendly fun in your house.

  6. I have to admit, each of your "laundry day" outfits that you've shown I love! I think this one is my favorite; I love the contrast of the delicate lace top against the tailored polka dot dress–a really beautiful combination!

  7. Genius layering with the top and dress. And I like how you've been color blocking with those heels and tights lately.

The sky always looks so pretty in your pictures. I constantly miss the Bay Area. I'm a San Francisco transplant to Minnesota. Shockingly 30 degrees is a nice winter day now for me. I never thought I'd adjust!

    Enjoy your pretty CA sky!

  8. Love the polka dots and am coveting the oxfords. You're outfits are so unique and cleverly put together, I'm always inspired after reading your blog- it makes me excited to move out to California and enjoy the sunshine!

  9. I love the way you layered up the strapless dress- I am about to tackle this topic for a reader question in Glamour's q+a page, and this is definitely giving me some food for thought xx jenny feldman
