the conservatory of flowers

for today’s outfit post, i would like to give you a little sneak peek at a photo shoot i did with jt paradox of the sf style for the local lifestyle magazine 7×7. we ran into a bit of a time crunch, and of course, the moment we met up for the shoot, it began pouring rain. so we headed off in the car going nowhere in particular when i remembered how lovely it is inside the conservatory of flowers in golden gate park. we both agreed that the turn-of-the-century architecture was the perfect match for my vintage boater hat, so off we went! it’s such a cool little spot with different rooms of varying temperatures and humidity to accommodate the lush greenery.

i have to say, this was a particularly daring outfit, but i decided to have a little fun with it since we were shooting for a magazine. i think i would wear this exact same outfit for a nice outing, only with a black vintage camisole underneath so i wouldn’t look quite as “pin-up.” but it was definitely fun and i can’t wait to see the feature in 7×7 magazine.

here’s a shot of what it looks like from the outside on a sunny day, via the conservatory website.

  1. These shots are awesome! You look great, and I love the black and white paired with all of the flowers. Yes black bra and white shirt is very daring, but its also liberating at the same time don't you think?

  2. Your outfit and the background reminds me of the book Linnea in Monet's Garden… did you ever read that when you were little?

  3. I agree with Alyson, these shots are awesome. They look amazing. What a beautiful place to have a photo shoot. This outfit is great. I love the details and the black and white. So cute.

  4. I do like the daring aspect of this outfit; the neutrals go supra well with the beautiful backdrop. Is that little tie part of the blouse and did you add that on? Either way, it's cute.

  5. i love these photos! your outfit is so cute and whimsical with the little hat and the buttoned up blouse, but at the same time daring. and the garden was a great choice for a photoshoot. ~joelle

  6. ohhhh so adorable! I have been loving your boater hat!

BTW- I opened up my Glamour before I had caught up on Twitter and my blog reading the other day, and I was like, Oh my goodness! There's Erin!" Awesomeness!

  7. What a beautiful place! I wish I would have know about it when I was in SF last year. So very daring to have the bra showing underneath the sheer blouse but you pull it off well. And now you have me feeling sort of brave.

  8. Beautiful outfit and location. I was somewhat surprised to see you with the sheer shirt and black bra, given how concerned you were with the length of your mini dress a few posts back, but I understand the point of being daring for the magazine, too.

  9. This is such a cute outfit, great styling, and the setting is glorious. I wish there were cool sites like it in my home town :)

  22. Oh man, I'd give half my brain (yeah, it's no joke) to be able to go to SF again soon. It's my favorite city! I love your lace tights and blouse!

  23. Oooh, I like this look. Very sexy – but the hat makes it a little more fun and innocent. I've been wanting to try the sheer-bra-showing kind of thing…or the lace-bra-peeking out thing…but I haven't been brave enough yet!

  24. I love the Conservatory! I had so much fun there a while back when they had the butterfly exhibit- it was magical. I love love your tights, by the way! And your hat is just too amazing!
