camping chic

i know that the rachel comey spring 2010 collection isn’t anything new for those of you who follow the runway shows or spend time browsing through the items for sale at shops like opening ceremony (read: people like yours truly). but i realized that with all of my cycling, hiking, and camping love, i hadn’t done a proper post about one of my favorite spring collections! while in the past, i have placed a bit more focus on functional clothes that you could actually wear on a hike, seen here, i’m also a huge fan of fashionable clothing inspired by some of my favorite outdoor activities! enter rachel comey. a camping and hiking enthusiast herself, she created a fun collection with outdoor chic in mind.

while i certainly love the styling in the collection: lots of separates with attention to cool patterns and utilitarian details, i’m also really appreciating her unique accessories. i don’t think i can afford to go out and pay full price for one of her cool backpacks or clutches, but they’re definitely vintage inspired pieces that can be found on thrifting expeditions or at the estate sales, so i’m going to have to keep my eyes peeled. and as for the shoes, well, a girl can dream!

find the pieces above at la garconne.

  1. It appears to me that brown with blues and reds it pretty popular right now. It's reappearing frequently.

    I want those tan shorts!

  2. I am lusting after a tribal print backpack so hard. As a student on a really big campus, it's just not practical to NOT have a backpack… But they kill outfits. The chicest ensemble suddenly turns…turtle-y.

  3. oh my god, those khaki shorts are amazing. ever since I was a safari explorer for halloween last year, safari chic has taken over my mind! glad to see this post! : )

  4. I wicked want all of this. I'm going hiking in those clogs with one of those backpacks, I don't even care if I snap my ankle off.

  5. nice, good choice of collection to highlight – especially with summer coming up. i love that outfit with the shorts and yellow top!

  6. I'm a big fan of fashion looks inspired by outdoorsy type things… I love the neutral/earth tones with a pop of color and a touch of femininity and "chic-ness" haha! I love the shoes and the accessories, yes!

Great post… mmm… but bad because now I have more on my wish list!
