jodhpur boots

with the amount of shopping around i’ve been doing for fall boots, i could probably do a post on shoes every single day! since i know some of my choices are probably going to be pretty predictable and in line with what’s in style (i.e. desert boots, clog boots), i thought i’d share a style that might not be the biggest trend, but certainly on my wishlist for fall: jodhpur boots. they’re also called chelsea boots or paddock boots. they originated in the victorian era as a riding boot and were adopted by the mods in the 60’s as a fashionable style. but i think they’d also incorporate quite nicely into a more modern wardrobe. perfect worn with skinny jeans sans socks!

marais usa chelsea boots $120
these are my top pick for chelsea boots because of the clean line across the top. they are the ultimate in simplicity, and the style is perfectly casual and cool. the two photos of the girl are also from marais.

aigle boots jodhpurs $119
if you live in a place that gets a lot of rain, these aigle jodhpurs are actually made to look like leather, but you get the functionality of rubber, which makes these perfect all-weather boots for the winter.

asos alfie leather chelsea ankle boots $75.80
if you’re budget is a little slim, these clock in at a slightly lower price and they come with a bit of distressing so they’re already perfectly worn in. and asos has a lot of sales, so you can probably get yourself a deal if you keep your eye out!

  1. My favorite ones are defiantly the first ones. And, I love that girl who is wearing them with tights and socks, it looks so good. My fear would be that they would cut off my (really short) legs and make me look stumpy? Maybe if I layered them like that one girl>

  2. i LOVE these. they are exactly what i need to buy this winter. keep us updated if you find any others k?? and where is that picture from (the last one with the girl with the socks??)

  3. shelby: i find that the look of an ankle boot is difficult to get used to at first, but they actually look quite nice when they cut off at the narrowest part of your ankle. though layering with socks or wearing with jeans might also help to make you feel more comfortable with the silhouette! i'll see if i can dig up some more inspiration photos!

  4. Yess! I love a good pair of chelsea's. I just saw a beautiful brown pair that fit me like a dream at Wasteland the other day, but I was so broke at the time. Oh so sad. And they were only like $50, which is nothing compared to these prices!

Anyways, I will definitely be sporting these this fall/winter. Especially being one that loves to dress a bit mod. I have an old black pair from h&m too… they're so nice and comfy. Thank you for sharing these… I might just have to save up now : )

  5. I love jodhpur boots on other people, but I just can't seem myself wearing them for fashion, possibly since I rode horses for so long and practically lived in them then. Those ASOS ones are definitely making me reconsider, though!

  6. if i skip buying boots this year does that mean i can justify paying $300 for no. 6 clog boots? counsel me, boot woman! ;)

  7. aahh i always love your posts on trends like these.. for some reason, you always have the best picks for the next season's it item! :D

will definitely be watching out for this kind of boots! :D

  8. Girl, I've had my eye on those Marais shoes for ages too–I just need to decide what color! So hard to choose.

  9. Oh my goodness, I love how they're styled in the last photo! I've never really been a fan of this style boot but after seeing that picture it's completely changed my mind.

  10. I'm loving this style! I saw a heeled version on Topshop (I think, I could be wrong…) a while ago, but I definitely like the flat version better!

  11. Thank you for posting this. You inspired me to look at equestrian websites for non-leather versions like the second pair…

I found a great pair and they arrived today! They need A LOT of breaking in but they are going to be great everyday boots.

    Thanks again!

  13. found the marais pair for 30% in portland, and they are non-leather which is great. They are wonderfully minimalist and versatile – a great investment.
