dooney & bourke bags

i know i already recently tempted you with a recent post about some of my favorite handbags from ll bean, but after pulling out an old thrifted dooney & bourke bag yesterday, i felt the urge to check out some of their more recent inventory. and i have to tell you, i think i’m in love.  these classic bags made of thick, sturdy leather are right down my alley. and in all honesty, the price point is quite right compared to many of the luxury leather brands available these days.  and i love that they’ve stayed true to their heritage and kept many of these great designs, because they’d practically pass off as vintage.  and you know i’m a fan of that!

  2. this is the aesthetic they should have stuck with along. i love my vintage dooney & bourke bag, but cannot stand the cotton-candy colored, db or hearts emblazoned bags of the 2000s that look like they were designed for 12 year olds.

  3. I love Dooney and Burke! I remember my mother always carrying a Dooney when I was little and it was pretty much the only designer thing she ever had. They such a classic and timeless brand.

  4. Dooney & Bourke is my absolute favorite bag company. I have several of their bags that are thrifted and in amazing condition. Their durability and sleek look is what makes me so drawn to them.

  5. my mom has so many never been used dooney & bourke bags, i couldn't help but steal one from her closet. they deserve to see the light and get some fresh air after all these years!

  6. I am a Dooney fan from way back, they have classic style and awesome quality. Love all of mine~! And I have an outlet near my house. I am waiting for them to get the new plaid. Love.

  7. wow I'm definitely going to check these out now!

I was also recently surprised by the vintage feel of brahmin bags — you should definitely check out their latest. Very reasonable prices, too.

  8. I used to sell Dooney & Bourke bags at my old retail job, and they were so great. Their fall line is better than their summer one — mostly canvas bags. I love these picks — they're very vintage looking and kind of have that schoolgirl look to them.

    Have a great one, Erin!

  9. Wow! I had no idea that Dooney & Burke made such beautiful bags. I mainly associated them with those hideous bumblebee, easter egg color monogrammed monstrosities. This, however, this I could totally do. Thank you for sharing :)

  10. where's my wallet…my visa… HAHA! i love all of these!! you don't necessarily find such things browsing online even if you dont know what you're looking for! lol so great post with all in one to look at :-)

  11. I think compared to vintage Coach bags that D&B is a better value, at least purchasing on ebay, and the bags show less wear.

They process their leather in a different way, it's not as soft, but long-term it wears better.

  12. I have a few vintage dooneys and I always wondered why they strayed from the classic path… I hate all the new stuff with the tacky patterns they've been doing. These newer bags you show here are more like it!!
