a neighborhood stroll

it feels like it’s been such an awfully long time since i’ve done a post out in the world rather than on my little rooftop!  so today i decided to take you on a little walk around my neighborhood in oakland and show you a few sights.  on this particular day, we woke up late and lazy, and strolled over to one of our favorite breakfast spots, lynn and lu’s escapade cafe.  it’s a little hole-in-the-wall with really good prices for the bay area (think: $7.95 for eggs benedict!), and they have the nicest staff in the world.  they come by every 10 seconds to fill up your mug of coffee and your food usually arrives in what feels like 2 minutes!  also: on our walk to get brunch, we passed by this silly mural, but when i went over to get my picture in front of it, i spotted a black cat in the window with dreamy green eyes.  as you can see, i was just a little excited…
as far as my clothes, i’m wearing two brand new pieces that came in the mail last week, and i can officially say that i’m addicted to shopping at asos online.  this mustard yellow trench coat could pass off as vintage, and the knit sweater dress is now the most comfortable dress in my closet. i want to wear them both every single day, which is a sign of a good purchase.
shoes: vintage salvatore ferragamo bow flats
bag: felix rey clutch from swirl
sunglasses: karen walker

  2. That's such an amazing dress! It looks so comfy and warm, and yet so polished. Love it, and the mod-ness of it! Also, love the coat.. I have a similar Marc Jacobs one I got on sale back in the day, and now I want to go pull it out!

  3. Ahhh I wore that dress today, I went for the black version, it's so nice! I never normally buy knit dresses so this was a happy surprise and it's perfect for the cold English winters. I'm very asos obsessed at the moment, already thinking of my next order!

  5. first of all: i really like your new layout! it looks simple – that's what i like. and your outfit post is crazy beautiful! the dress is so pretty, love the collar! the combination with the brown tights and the blue color of the dress is perfect!

  6. Oh my goodness, those two pieces are so lovely! I love how bright and fun that trench is, and that dress looks so cute and comfy. Great look :)

  7. It's so fun to see you out and about. I get stuck taking photos on my roof a lot too, so I totally understand! It's just so much easier to run upstairs than to scout a location and set things up somewhere else. I love seeing a bit of your neighborhood, and I adore that coat. I remember having something very similar when I was a little girl. Apparently that does not preclude me from wanting the very same thing as a much bigger girl!

  11. Absolutely love your asos coat! It's so gorgeous. I've actually been looking at asos for a good coat, for when I visit the US in April. Would that be a good type of coat for California around that time?

  12. Wow, I love your coat. Can't go wrong with yellow. I wore a yellow jacket today.

I also love your reaction to the kitty.

  13. I was eyeing that dress on ASOS but I didn't realize it was knitted, I'm a sucker for knitted dresses they are basically glorified sweaters and so damn comfy. Also, that coat is such a stunning color!

  14. You look awesome! That coat is the BEST color & that dress is too good to be true. Your new blog layout is just awesome. I just can't get over how much I love it!

  15. I really want that dress! Everyone's rocking the cutest Wednesday Addams dresses…

I make those kinds of faces when I see kitties, too :P

  16. Such gorgeous pictures! I love that painted mural in the background of the second and third photos. I love the color of your yellow coat! So bright and cheery.

  17. I have been living in the Bay area for almost a year now and I still just can't get used to the weather (grew up in Austin, TX so that could be my problem). I saw your yellow coat and it dawned on me… if I can't get sunnier weather, I'm gonna get a sunnier coat! Yea! Thanks for the post! -elyse
