gondolier

calivintage: boater
oh silly me. today i dressed up like a gondolier with fancy bright red shoes. i sorta can’t resist the combination of a stripy shirt with a straw boater hat (as i’m sure you already know), and the rest of the outfit just sorta happened. i was mostly trying to figure out a way to style up these beautiful new swedish hasbeens. i have so many black and brown shoes that sometimes it can be challenging for me to think of ways to incorporate different colors into my repertoire, so keeping the outfit simple is an easy first step as i start to experiment with my brightly colored footwear.
in other news, it’s friday! i’ve had a bit of a cold all week and i’m finally starting to feel better, making the weekend that much more appealing to me. i’m ready to go out and have some fun, and there’s talk of a bike ride on sunday, assuming it doesn’t rain! me and my friends like to do a ride around the carquinez strait, and along the route, we stop at a really awesome bar in the little town of port costa. if you live in the bay area, you should really try it out!

  1. Love the gondolier look! Anything that is almost a costume but not quite is all right in my book. I am a new follower and very taken with your look. I will be back for more!

  2. Those clogs are just lovely. One of those forever tempting items on modcloth *sigh*

  4. You look fab in high-waisted pants. Love your shoes, too – how did you manage to choose one colour from their huge range? Haha.

  5. I can definitely see the Venetian gondolier inspiration with a hint of Parisian flair. I always adore a European inspired outfit. It's getting chilly now, so stay warm!!! Will you be going to Alameda on the 5th? If so, I guess I may or may not bump into you :)
