fox trot

calivintage: fox trot

oh yes, you will probably start to notice that i’m taking every opportunity to wear my fox blouse and celine wedges! they are two of my prized possessions, so i’m determined to get as much wear out of them as possible! it’s all part of my latest plan to be more strategic about my purchases. i’ve opted to control my impulse spending in place of more calculated investments in fewer pieces, with the hopes that they’ll last me season to season. the idea is that if i’m picky enough about it, i will start to amass a collection of pieces that i’ll want to keep hanging in my closet even when i’m completely sick of them, because i know that i’ll have fun digging them out years later with a fresh look on things. as opposed to my usual habit of collecting as many pieces as possible, only to wear them a few times before they start to fall apart, or else i get sick of them and take them to the thrift shop!

though now that i’ve made that statement public, i wonder if i’ll stick to my plan. much easier said than done, that’s for sure!

I’ve always wanted to do the “investment” piece thing, but I’m not there yet. Just not impulse shopping is my big goal this year!

  3. you are so classic chic! love it all, good luck with your goal! I am in a semi-same state of mind…sometimes I just can’t pass up a good deal, even when its cheaply made :/ but I am looking to downsize my closet toward more versatile, timeless pieces!!

I’m sure you’ll come up with uses for the blouse and wedges all year long! <33

  4. Those Celine wedges and the Opening Ceremony fox blouse are definitely keepers. Truly investment pieces. I love your style philosophy, I hope you will be able to keep it up too!. You look fantastic!

P.S. Before when I had posted an outfit with a fox print jumper I happened to use the word foxtrot in my title post too. Funny how that word just fits, right? That word in your post title caught my eye, and I thought, “ooo I hope she is wearing some fox print,” and you were! :)

    much love.

  5. Oh my god I seriously want/NEED that fox shirt more than anything in the world. I find myself going back to your posts of it and looking at it more than once each day. I just need to find a way to validate spending that much money on a blouse…. maybe it will go on sale? I NEED IT. You look amazing, those colors look great on you!

  6. I’ve been getting a lot better about curbing my impulse buys. I do like the idea of having a closet filled with really high-quality pieces that I adore.

That said, I have a serious case of blouse envy. Foxes have been popping up all over my Google Reader and Tumblr feed, and I’m itching to get my hands on something as perfect as your top! (I’m still so inspired by the way you paired it with a green skirt and yellow sweater a few posts ago.) And as usual, you rock a crazy high platform like no one else can. ;)

  7. I must say I am in love with this blouse. Foxes are everywhere this year. I guess literal animals are just popular this year. I swear a sweater or blouse with hedgehogs. I’ve decided I’m getting a hedgehog this year once I’ve settled in New York! Eeeep. So excited. I adore this look! I loved the prints charming outfit so much. That artichoke print skirt was amazing. Love the red lips too! :)

  8. Oh I have the same resolution as well, but to be honest I have a hard time keeping to it! :D

P.S: Today is my blog’s Bday!!! :) I’ll be hosting a giveaway which (I know for a fact :) will blow your mind!!! :D

  9. Me encanta esta camisa y como la llevas. Con el botón del cuello abrochado queda siempre mejor!!

  10. That blouse is amazing, I think it’s a great idea to buy one or two key high price items rather than lots of cheaper items that are crappy quality. Great look. x

  11. I adore your fox print blouse. I love the entire outfit actually. I was thinking about what you said about only buying pieces you truly love. I think this is a great way to end up with a wardrobe in which you will always have something to wear. I feel that sometimes I am guilty of impulse buying, and I am definitely trying to stop this!

  12. Foxy. I love the print of this top and the way you have paired it with simplicity, but I do also love when you paired it with another print in a previous post. You’re a beauty.
