monterey

i’m back from a weekend away in monterey, ca! it was brendan’s birthday on sunday, so we decided to head out of town right after work on friday and drove two hours to our room in asilomar all ready waiting for us with fresh wood in the fireplace. the next morning, we woke up bright and early to explore the area before ending the evening with celebratory chocolate mousse cake and champagne. some of our adventures included an epic breakfast of turkey and avocado benedict, a very fruitful trip to a local used bookstore, a beautiful drive along the scenic 17-mile drive, and a pleasant stroll along a trail in asilomar that led us to the beach in these photos! these are the types of weekends that i live for, these wonderful carefree days where i can just get away from it all to enjoy some outside air in the company of my favorite person!

and do you recognize this tunic? it’s the family affairs field of diamonds tunic made exclusively for of a kind that i’m giving away on my blog this week. if you’re interested in the details, you can read all about the tunic and the giveaway in this post, or you can simply enter to win it by signing up for the of a kind weekly mailing list! a winner will be randomly selected tomorrow evening, so get to it!

  1. Your post makes me quite envious… I’ve been dreaming of seeing Monterey bay, but I’d have to plan a bigger trip than a weekend… Your pictures have the wistful feel of a perfect week-end, I love them, you can’t really tell where the beach end and the sky begins!
And of course, your look is everything light, breezy and perfect for a stroll on the beach. Very nice post, indeed!

  2. Beautiful pictures and lovely outfit! This beach looks so peaceful and isolated, although a bit chilly (which I’m def jealous of in 113 heat!)! Sounds like a wonderful weekend with your man, glad you enjoyed it! You make me want to move to California.

  3. It does sound like a delightful weekend, and the photos are so beautiful. I specially love the tunic paired with the gorgeous jacket, and you look so happy in all of these!

  4. Such adorable photos. Your tunic is super cute and it looks great on you. However, I think I would steal your trench in a second if I could. :]

  5. Aw, you look so cute! The colors of the tunic are beautiful. And the coat is adorable! I love that coastal drive in the Monterey/Carmel area too…it must be one of the most beautiful places on earth.

  6. a lovely weekend in deed…ah that coat…so sweet and these photos are so lovely. def going to get in on that giveaway. i;m sure it’ll take a day or two to transition back to the day to day. cheers.

  7. LOVE this beach look! It’s so great. The tunic is amazing and the trench is even more so. I definitely want to recreate this look sometime and just walk about town!

  8. Erin, I love your jump shots! I was recently traveling with a friend through the Southwest, and this one area in Death Valley looked like Mars, and we wanted to pretend like there was zero gravity so we did jump shots… and they were hard! Our arms were all over the place, but you do them so gracefully! Oh, and belated congrats on your SF Weekly nomination :)

  9. I love these photos on the beach. That nautical trench is the best. And that tunic is lovely on you. Such a cool item to wear on the beach.
