with the autumn equinox only a few days past, i am happy to report that as per usual, san francisco offered us a nice rainy day to welcome the new season. so of course, i took the opportunity to wear one of my new comfy cozy fall outfits while wandering about in the mountain view cemetery. the sky was perfectly gray and gloomy, and the earth was still moist from the showers. i wore a black dress for the first time in a long time, and i loved the depth that it added to my look. i know that a basic jersey wrap dress such as this is a no brainer for many, but in all my life i’ve never owned such an essential basic, so i was very pleased when karen kane offered to send one along for me to try out. it’s the type of thing that you can mix and match with any combination of things, and it’s so perfectly soft and stretchy that you could practically live in it. needless to say, i’m quite happy to finally have it in my wardrobe! and as you’ll see when you begin to scroll down, i clearly had a good time prancing around in my silly, preppy fox hunter outfit, as is evidenced by the number of pictures we snapped! yikes!

dress: karen kane wrap top dress
blouse: deyrolle pour opening ceremony silk fox print blouse
jacket: family affairs runaway blazer
shoes: vintage cut out oxfords
sunglasses: karen walker number six
bag: rebecca minkoff covet satchel
lipstick: ysl rouge pur couture in le rouge
nails: butter polish in pillar box red

  1. Oh! I love that blouse with those sunglasses! Have a great day! Enjoy the blossoming fall. I’m wishing for a bit cooler weather (and some rain) down here in Los Angeles.

  2. I love that you managed to turn a jersey wrap dress into something uniquely your own. Not many people would have added the awesome fox blouse, and yet it makes all the difference!
Excellent cutout shoes, too. Who would have guessed vintage?

  3. This has to be one of the chicest outfits I’ve seen for fall. Everything about it is so well out together I can’t wait to try out something similar.
Please tell me where did you get those shoes, they are AMAZING.

    1. hi nicola! i wish i could point you in the right direction, but the shoes are vintage! i found them browsing around for oxfords on ebay many months ago, but that doesn’t mean a similar pair won’t pop up for you! i say you should keep an eye on etsy!

    2. wow, such a nice compliment! thank you! i found the shoes on etsy a long while back, so unfortunately, i don’t think i’ll be able to point you in the right direction. but i definitely recommend that you start searching ebay and etsy. perhaps something similar will pop up!

  4. Beautiful! I love the way you layered a blouse with a unique print underneath a simple black dress. The gorgeous blazer and oxfords really pull it all together. You look like a chic mid-century French writer!

  5. I am catching up with the last two or three weeks of your blog today. The designer coverage is fantastic. I wanted to tell you how beautiful you look in the photo where you are checking out your manicure. Wonderful!

I am a huge Bensoni fan after your post from Monterey. I scooped up one of the last jackets, and I LOVE it!

    Reporting from NOPA in SF……
