outfit: a plaid plaid world

the other day when i walked into the office at work, my coworker exclaimed, “erin! you’re wearing plaid!” my reaction was a little bit surprised, since i’ve always thought of myself as being the type of gal with a lot of plaid in her wardrobe. in fact, at the age of 22 (which has now been a very long time ago, yikes!), i went through a phase where most of my wardrobe included a heavy rotation of plaid button up shirts. but then it sunk in that perhaps the pendulum had swung in the opposite direction, and perhaps i hadn’t worn any plaid in the past year or so. crazy how those things happen. you feel almost as if a certain piece defines you, and then just like that, it’s yesterday’s news.

i may have maxed-out on a plaid a while back, but this fall it’s finally back. at least for me. which is why i pulled out this crazy blanket dress that my mom gave me a couple of years ago and finally decided to give it a spin. on this particular day, despite the sunny skies, the weather was feeling quite chilly. and what better way to brave the cold than with an essentially very fashionable snuggie? this dress was clearly handmade straight from a wool throw blanket, and it was the perfect thing to wear on a very lazy weekend day.

    1. yes! i can’t believe i wrote that whole post and just breezed past the fact that this is the first time i’m wearing a turtleneck since i was a little kid. turtlenecks are back in my book. can’t get enough of ’em!

    1. aw, nicollllle, i miss you! and i will be waiting to see you plaid sweater. ooh, and that reminds me that i also have a similar plaid poncho that really needs to be shared, too. ugh, i gotta go to london and see you!

  1. Hey Erin,

You are too adorable! This look is just amazing and I’m in love with it. I need to bring back turtlenecks again! I can’t seem to find them! Boo! This dress is so chic! You must move to New York soon! But it’s starting to get cold here, eeek! Hope you’ve been well. Loving your recent outfits! :)

  2. Adorable outfit! I love how you start with an all black, very sleek silhouette, then break it up with a burst of colorful, playful plaid. And the dress’ fabric looks so cozy!

By the way, I love turtlenecks too. I found a great short sleeve cashmere turtleneck a few years ago at a thrift shop. I wear it with all my winter jumpers…kind of in a similar style to what you did here!
