outfit: i am a pilgrim

yes, on the toes of yesterday’s post about tomboy style, i am totally wearing a girly, lacy vintage dress with a bow on it. (though i did balance out the femininity with a sturdy hat and loafers…) but when i laid my eyes on this amazing vintage dress at tender vintage, i knew it had to be mine. it’s a shift dress, but it’s the perfect type of shift because it has darts at the bust and it subtly narrows at the waist before flaring out to a slight a-line skirt. that care for details is what takes a dress that could easily veer into maternity territory from frumpy to a very sassy little number indeed. and it’s exactly the type of detail that i look for when i’m shopping for a little mod dress.

and while i was waiting for this darling dress in the mail, i happened upon a photo of mia farrow wearing a slightly similar dress with a cute little topper, and that’s how this particular look was born. it’s my very best “pilgrim chic.” well, maybe it comes in second to my psychedelic pilgrim look from last year!

hat: vintage ’50s equestrian hat

  1. Mia Farrow’s hat is too perfect. As is your dress! It fits you like it was made for you. I always love when that happens with shift dresses : )

  2. That dress is amazing! My favourite details from my favourite era! I purchased a yellow piece that is almost exactly the same the other day… except it is yellow and has fuzzy polka-dots instead of lace.

  3. I love the pointy-toe loafers with that dress. But, then again, I almost feel like no matter what shoe you wear with that dress, it’s the dress that is just absolutely amazing! Good job on finding that! I would have to agree with Natalie Jean – totally also my “Favorite outfit yet!”

  4. That is just the coolest mod dress I’ve seen in a while. You look great in that hat too. And you’re makeup is beautiful

  5. this reminds me of a little boy from 1900 who chases a hoop with a stick. hahaha, i dont know if these kids had names, because i tried googling it to be more specific, but perhaps you can imagine.
