what’s in my bag by calivintage
sometimes you just wanna be super casual on the weekends. i recently bought this cute peplum stripe top which is just begging to be worn with some slouchy jeans and these la marquise frames that i’ve been dying to get my hands on.
despite the fact that i was once a pastry chef and had to wake up every morning at like 5am, i have never ever been a morning person. but ever since we set our clocks back last week, i’ve actually been able to wake up “early.” the sun is high up in the sky and if it’s not overcast and gloomy, then it’s pretty much guaranteed that i’ll be out of bed and buzzing around before 8am. this is an incredible feat for a self-proclaimed night person like myself, and it’s making my morning routine much easier for now. sometimes it’s the little things.
halloween came and went. for whatever reason, i didn’t feel compelled to get all dressed up in a silly costume this year, but i still always enjoy the general dark and creepy vibes associated with the holiday. i think it’s a fun ritual to celebrate the macabre as we watch the leaves fall from the trees and welcome the coming winter weather. so i created this slightly less costumey outfit to wear for an evening of night sailing and storytelling.
after being out of town all last week, i decided to take it easy and stay close to home this weekend. but with the beautiful blue skies and crisp fall weather, i found myself dreaming of a weekend away in a rustic cabin overlooking the ocean in some secluded spot along the northern california coast. i put this little look together imagining what i might wear while sitting on my imaginary front deck sipping coffee and looking out at the misty sea before heading out for sunday brunch at the local diner.

the great indoors by calivintage on polyvore
we’ve started the slow transition to fall, and i’ve been changing gears and getting used to the idea of wearing layers and curling up on the couch next the space heater to enjoy the great indoors.

this week, instead of doing my usual weekly roundup, i thought i’d change things up a bit and share some favorite recent photos featuring my favorite color. i’ve always been drawn to rich mustard and yellow hues. the only catch is that i actually have a pretty hard time wearing it myself because it often ends up matching my skin tone a bit more than i’d like… so while i stick to mustard accent pieces, i can sit back and enjoy these inspirational outfits from afar.
