springtime is here, which means it’s hat season. and i don’t think there is anything much cuter than kids in hats. brookes boswell has just released her very first children’s hat collection, and i am so excited! i’m a huge fan of her hats, and have been wanting a little mini version for adam for a while now, so this is perfect! she’s released is a well-rounded selection of wide-brimmed straw hats for summer days and wool felt toppers for cooler temperatures. and i’m basically dying over this lookbook because it is the cutest thing ever!

over the past couple of years, brookes boswell has become my number one when it comes to hats. this portland-based milliner makes all of her hats by hand, and her designs are top notch. the new fall 2016 collection is out, and my wishlist is long. these are some of my favorites, but there are even more available on her site. and, in addition to her collection, she’s also recently opened up an online shop and brick & mortar boutique in portland. next time i got on vacation up there, i am definitely going to make it a point to stop by.

i think i can say with 100% certainty that my current obsession with hats stemmed from my first handmade panama hat by portland-based designer brookes boswell. i got it last spring, and pretty soon, it found it’s way onto my head almost every day, especially in the warm and sunny summer months. she’s just released her new spring 2016 collection, and now i’m trying my best to narrow down my new wishlist! she has a large range of both straw and felt hats to cover any type of weather, with plenty of styles to choose from. i decided to try something new, so i got the new straw cortland for myself, and i’ve been having a lot of fun wearing it. or if you’re curious about the hat that i’m always wearing in outfit photos, the wakefield is still available to order!

each hat is custom made to order by brookes herself, and you can usually select from a variety of different types of straw or felt in different colors to really personalize the look. she also has a really great selection of hat pins and vintage hats, and if you’re in portland, i hear she’s opened a store front so you can check them all out in person!

as i’m sure you’ve noticed, this past summer, i’ve had a certain brookes boswell hat permanently glued to my head! i have light sensitivity, so i’ve been hopelessly dedicated to sunglasses, but the wide brim on my wakefield hat finally offered me an alternative to the eyewear that i’d been getting kinda sick of wearing all the time. i’ve worn it so much that if i had to pick my number one piece of the summer, my wakefield would be it. but as summer is drawing to a close, i’m starting to think about what i’ll wear in the cooler months ahead, so i’m pretty excited that the fall 2015 collection is out now!
