my nyfw: jill stuart fall 2012

i know that nyfw ended last week, but i still have a few posts that i’d like to share with you over the next couple of days to round out all of my coverage from the shows! so today i’d like to share some of the photos i snapped at the jill stuart fall 2012 show. her beautiful spring collection made me weak in the knees, so i had my hopes set high when the lights went out and the crowd hushed as we waited for the latest looks to walk down the runway. i have to say, i was a bit surprised to see such dark and edgy looks after so many very feminine collections, but as more looks emerged, i started to settle into the new direction. and when the final few looks with there intricate embroidery, pretty collars, and cut out details, i fell in love.

my nyfw: jill stuart spring 2012

jill stuart spring 2012

since fashion week has started, i’m sure you’ve seen some sneak peeks of what i’ve been up to on tumblr, twitter, and instagram. but today i’m excited to begin sharing some of the photos i’ve been taking at the shows. one of my favorites so far was the jill stuart spring 2012 show. after having been mildly obsessed with the fall and resort collections, i was a little concerned that i’d built up the spring show too much in my mind. but once i saw the first look walk down the runway (see: the nude and red palm tree dress with a pleated and scalloped hem) i knew i was in for a treat. i loved the sort of art deco floridian theme with the palm tree motif and excellent colors. the pink and green in particular reminded me of the colors you might see in my great aunt’s bathroom, and i mean that in the best way possible. but besides the show-stopping colors, i loved the quilted jackets, which reminded me of glamorous vintage sleepwear, and i even caught a glimpse of what looked like little retro faces on the print of a dress. and of course, the gold details on the shoes and the perfectly messy side swept hair completed the looks. another collection well-done that i will be turning to for inspiration for months to come!

all photos were taken by me.

jill stuart fall 2011

after writing that last outfit post about my new fox shirt from opening ceremony, i happened upon the images from theĀ jill stuart fall 2011 collection and nearly had a heart attack. i wasn’t invited to this particular show, but let me just say that if i had been in attendance and seen these pieces in real life, i probably would have fainted at the sight of this collection. maybe that’s just the cold medicine talking, but i seriously can’t get over this beautiful, nature-inspired collection. it’s got me saving up my pennies to for a serious fashion investment.
