my nyfw: oscar de la renta spring 2012

as i’m sure you’ve noticed by now, there’s a pretty steady trend in the shows that i attended during nyfw. i (as you would expect) generally lean towards vintage-inspired collections that are wearable and on the more affordable end of the spectrum in terms of designer clothing. but that isn’t to say that i don’t appreciate the more intricate and ornate work of designers like oscar de la renta. i had the pleasure of being able to attend the spring 2012 show and snagged a pretty awesome spot standing at the end of the runway, where i attempted to digest all of the beautiful details as they flew past. and there was a lot to take in: from the cool ’70s separates to the cinderella-esque ball gowns complete with ornate little slippers! i was delighted by the chartreuse hues, and charmed by the cute low-heeled sandals and clear vinyl booties. and that’s only scratching the surface.

i actually had the opportunity to visit the oscar de la renta studio back in febraury during fashion week, and got to see first-hand the amount of fine handwork that goes into each one of these incredible pieces. every time a model flew by on the runway, i was reminded of all the hard work and dedication that i had seen last season. so i don’t speak lightly when i say that it was truly an honor to have been able to experience such a beautiful show.

all photos by me!

  1. I think the lace crop top is my favorite piece (though it’s so hard to choose!) Also, the yellow floral prints are just darling! While I love Fall, this collection certainly has me ecxited for Spring!

  2. The first few lace ones remind me of the March Jacobs Bronte dress, so gorgeous. I’m a sucked for lace though. These are gorgeous, too bad people don’t wear stuff like this everyday!

  3. I can’t believe what amazing pictures you got! WOW. I watched this show via livestream and it was hands down my favourite collection from NYFW. I am hard pressed to think of anything I didn’t like – essentially, if I had all the money in the world, I would get everything! Gosh. So beautiful.

And the strappy shoes?? In so many pretty colours? I seriously hope those go into production because I would gladly save up my pennies to spend on those.

    Gorgeous.

  4. Wow, you are one lucky lady! Often times I find designer/runway pieces not to my personal taste but found so many pieces absolutely beautiful here. I’m loving all the lace & especially the dress with the tassel-like bottom, it looks so unique, like a artisan piece. Beautiful pictures, thanks for sharing!

  5. Absolutely gorgeous! Love these shots, and this collection. There isn’t one thing I don’t like! The colours and the textures are stunning. I am so jealous that you got to be there in person!!

  6. I like the whole collection….your photography – wonderful – very professional!
I hope some of the designs catch on with the RTW…
    hugs
