rachel antonoff spring 2011

on saturday, i was invited to attend the rachel antonoff spring 2011 presentation! i remember last season when her fall collection came out, i was instantly captivated by the nancy drew themed presentation at the lafayette house, and wished that i had been able to attend. so i was especially happy to be able to see her latest dreamland in real life! the collection was inspired by a child’s ability to transform any space into something magical, and it was presented at a private residence in the west village complete with a sleepover party upstairs, a living room fort, and s’mores in the kitchen. besides the beautiful details like heart shaped pockets and abstract bow prints, i was absolutely in love with the collaboration between rachel antonoff and bass shoes!
another lovely highlight of the event was meeting rachel antonoff herself along with julia frakes, who styled the collection. i also brought rebecca of the clothes horse (my partner in crime) along with me, and we got a chance to stop and chat with the lovely tavi, who we had first met during new york fashion week exactly one year ago. reunion times ensued and fun was had by all!
all of these photos were taken by me.

  1. Man oh MAN! This collection encapsulates that euphoric feeling I used to get knowing that school is out, and summer is here. I still sometimes get that feeling on a warm summer day. These clothes look like perfection! WOW! The presentation is amazing too. I am very jealous that you got to go to FW, but I'm glad to see you had fun. Can't wait for more posts from NYC!

  2. how fun! sounds like it was a great and fun experience! those clothes are so cute and reminiscent of youthful innocent days….i love the red and white oxfords!

  3. Wow! I want each and every pair of those shoes…Are they sold on the Bass website? Because I can't seem to find the exact ones…

  4. These are amazing!! You did a great job capturing the inspiration for this line!!

The sleepover sounds like such a great idea and the smores well…that just puts it over t he top!

  5. Oh jeez, my heart sang a glad song when I first saw her collaboration with Bass shoes. The floral blue and white saddle shoes kill me! I've been internet scouring for floral brogues and all I can find are intensely cute brogues made in the Philippines and no international shipping. I guess I'll just have to wait until these come out in the Spring.

    love,

(PS–It was so fun to meet you on Thursday! I wish I could have caught up with you more, even if it was just for a brief glimpse at your stunning TBA dress!)

  6. hello, just discovered your blog through clothes horse post, love it, your look is clearly distinct and beyond right, très cool!

  7. Oh my! I love the way the set up sounded from your description; far more fun and imaginative than the usual runway show. ;) The clothes are so adorable–and those shoes!!!! I'm hoping that if she's doing a collaboration with Bass, they'll be somewhat reasonable retail-wise? I saw a couple that are going on my spring wishlist… ;)

    Thanks for sharing these, Erin!

  10. I'm not sure how I feel about the creepy adult slumberparty theme…did you have to like walk around them and they had to pretend you weren't there? WEIRD.

  11. snowpuss: haha! no, it wasn't creepy at all. i don't know if we were necessarily supposed to, but i actually chatted with a few of the models. they were all very cute and sweet and the atmosphere was very relaxed and lighthearted!

  12. this is maybe the best thing i have ever seen! i love that bathtub too! i went to the lulu frost jewelry presentation, and all the girls sat around in vintage dresses looking beautiful covered in jewels. i have tons of photos, i just need the time to upload them now!
