endless weekend

i’m not gonna lie. this weekend was pretty amazing. and i felt that it was quite fitting considering the lazy times i had last weekend, getting stuffed on rich foods and napping the whole time. apparently i recharged my batteries just enough to enjoy: nachos for dinner, a late night stroll to the theater to watch greenberg, brunch on the patio at lynn and lu’s, another nice stroll with a successful trip to issues for a copy of russsh and elle uk, a bbq party, another brunch (that lasted all day), and the acquisition of a new (vintage) bike! not bad, i say.

and while i did not bring my camera around documenting all of these things, i did get some photos of an all-day brunch at a friend’s house and a few little shots of my new bike. it’s a 1970 raleigh superbe with a sturmey archer 3-speed internal hub, a brooks saddle, and almost all of the original parts, save the tires and the pump. it came in a ‘his and hers’ matching set, so i bought both with the intention of selling the ‘his’ bike, but my boyfriend took it for a spin and now he wants to keep it. we sure have become quite the bike collectors, considering that these aren’t our only bikes… but i really wanted something fun with an upright ride for casual about-town excursions that would be suitable enough for wearing skirts and heels and things.

and before i finish, i should probably explain one last thing. after i made that little animation below, i recognized that gifs of opening champagne bottles can be a little, ahem, suggestive. but we discovered a new way to open champagne bottles, and i wanted to show you how it’s done. but um, don’t try it at home, kids.

  1. I would love an upright bike (especially if I could have a matching one with my bf!) but I'm just too chicken to ride in London. I've got a month in Amsterdam in 2012 so guess I'll wait til then.

  2. major score on those matching bikes. also, sounds like an awesome weekend! :) ps: great suggestion with not trying that new way of opening a champagne at home. i would totally do it in an open field though…a field where no one walks barefoot and perhaps some safety goggles…can't help it i work in the health industry, i'm all about safety.

  3. Ohhh, weekends filled with bikes and friends are the best! That's how mine was, too. You look like you had a great time.

  4. My boyfriend and I have over five bikes between the two of us. We always plan on "flipping" them but there's always something different or special about each one that leads us to keeping them. Bikes are addicting, that's the only explanation I have as to our ever increasing collection.

I love these lazy spring days. It's the perfect way to get in the mood of summer.

  5. I love how into my popsicle I look. I obviously only have eyes for sweet treats! It's too bad I had to peace out so early, I forgot to tell you how cute your white shoes are!
