back to school

back to school

all of this talk about the chilly weather at outside lands over the weekend got me thinking about the fact that it is now officially august, and i have to accept that the days are getting shorter and we are slowly transitioning into the fall. it’s back-to-school season and even though i’m no longer a student, i still sometimes feel that little nostalgic ache remembering those trips to the store for freshly sharpened pencils and fragrant packs of crayons. as i got older, i graduated to graphing calculators and laptop computers, but it was always fun to gear up for the school season no matter how hard it might have been to say goodbye to summer.

pair that with a healthy dose of crazy cat lady kitsch and you’ve arrived at my slightly off-kilter outfit inspiration for the coming season!

  1. Love those glasses – i always stop to look in Opera Opera’s window when I’m in Covent Garden. Such a cool store and I love the fact they only allow a handful of people in at a time – you have the ring the bell and then wait to be let in:) I’ve bought actual NHS glasses in the past and paid a mere 7quid for the frames but I desperately want a pair from this store!

  2. i love that cord skirt! i have it and practically live in it… great suggestion. the other pieces are lovely too, especially the sweater and those AWESOME kitty flats! such an adorable post! <3

  3. Hello Erin!
I don’t leave many comments but I absolutely love your blog, and we actually met briefly in person last year at the Vintage Expo! I am stopping by to tell you what an inspiration you’ve been for me as a woman working in vintage, fashion and the fashion industry in the bay area. I recently started up my own little blog, as a way to keep in contact with my lovely internet peers and express my passions for vintage, fashion, style, etc. I hope you may be able to read and enjoy my blog as much as I have yours over the years! Thank you for the inspiration & entertainment you provide for so many ladies!
PS – i’ve contemplated many times who i would have to blackmail around here to score a pair of Charlotte Olympia kitten flats. turns out i don’t know anyone important enough to be worth the cost of a pair of CO shoes! haha

  4. I love back to school as well: there’s nothing like fresh supplies and reset motivation!
Also, I love the coat you included. And yes to coffee. Can’t make it through those 8am’s without it.
