melanie likes: the almighty zeus
i cheated a bit because this particular outfit isn’t from this past week, but it slipped through the cracks that week and i wanted to give it a mention! i am in love with melanie’s super cool styling. this is a perfect spring transitional outfit with a pretty pastel dress layered underneath a tweed coat. superb!

kelly shoestrings: etsy update!
this is another outfit i pulled from the archives, but i only just recently discovered this awesome blog. kelly is an etsy seller, so this particular romper was up for sale in her shop a couple of weeks ago. i know, i know, it’s a shame that it already sold, but at least we get to appreciate her cool styling complete with a pretty pink rose headband.

blushing ambition: rain, really?
i’m quite a fan of annabel’s lovely blog and her darling duffel coat that she found at a thrift shop! i feel a little bit bad that there wasn’t a shot of her pretty face in this particular post, but i do really love the way she paired her navy coat with cream, tan, and that perfect shade of mustard tights. i really admire her minimalistic approach to dressing and design.

style hurricane: N.O.L.G.O.*
this is another blog i only recently discovered, and i was smitten the moment i saw her super cool and casual outfit. to top things off, she found both the jacket and the shorts at the thrift shop!

all this happiness: secret spring
kater is definitely ready for spring in this perfect ensemble with a pretty pink dress and mustard cardigan. the color combination is so fresh and fun. a great look to sport while browsing the aisles at a local antique shop!

off of broadway: tweeted

here’s an outfit from an other blog i’ve just recently found. amanda has been killing it lately in her awesome ensembles. this week, i liked everything she wore, but was particularly enamored of the way she wore those vintage riding boots with high rise skinny jeans. perfection.

geronimo!

today i wanted to share with you another of my favorite little collections for spring: geronimo! the collection was started by a young designer in california, which definitely comes through in the easy styling of these fun, vintage-inspired summer dresses and bathing suits. personally, i just can’t get enough of the first two looks, and think i might need to get my hands on the navy and brown julia dress. and i’m in luck, because the spring collection just went up for sale in the geronimo online shop!

after recently mentioning that nadinoo was in the top 5 of my spring collection favorites, i realized that i hadn’t shared another of my absolute most favorite spring collections for the year: orla kiely. this isn’t really much of a surprise, since orla kiely is usually very high on my list, but i am in lurve with these latest looks. i only wish they had another cute lookbook video like they did in the fall so that i could watch all of the dresses move.

seriously, it was almost impossible for me to narrow it down to only my favorites because i want so many of these dresses and separates and bags! i’m particularly enamored with the sailboat prints, and i love the perfect shades of mustard and brown with a bit of white and navy thrown in for good measure. and of course i’m a sucker for the mint green purse with scalloped detailing. so i’m sitting here patiently waiting for the rest of the items to pop up for sale in the online shop, and anxiously counting my pennies to see if i’ll have enough to invest in a new orla kiely dress this spring!

now that we’re safely out of the madness of major fashion weeks and we’ve gotten our fill of what’s to come for fall 2010, i can finally shift focus back on some of the smaller designers who are beginning to reveal their spring 2010 offerings. and first on my list? one of my absolute favorites: nadinoo! this year, nadia has really outdone herself with this beautiful selection of dresses, blouses, and high rise shorts in perfect liberty prints and delicious colors! i have to tell you, with all of the larger designers out there that i’m really loving lately, the nadinoo spring collection is definitely in my top 5 for spring with several of her items in my wishlist. i think if i had to wear nothing but nadinoo this summer, i would be quite a happy camper!

while not all of the items pictured are available in her shop just yet, you should definitely check out fleur’s petal dress and pixie’s candy mini!

street style saturday

streetstyle on calivintage

this week, i definitely found myself attracted to the hannah macgibbon/chloe trend that has been dominating the street style sites lately. pale pastels, high-rise trousers, and clean lines. you can hardly resist the look; it’s perfectly casual, comfortable, and unfussy. to me, it offers a perfect air of coolness and sophistication, so i can definitely understand why so many girls are wearing this look!

i’ve noticed that fridays aren’t exactly my best days for doing outfit posts. so today i decided to shift my usual saturday link roundup to today! behold, some of my favorite style blog posts from this week.

sally jane vintage: and i ain’t seen the sunshine since i don’t know when
to be honest, jennifer always has some of the most creative and beautiful outfit posts out there. it’s hard for me to keep her off my list of favorites each week! but i had to include this lovely shot she got in front of a train with the hem of her dress billowing in the wind. so pretty!

orchid grey: the difference between a winkle picker and a brothel creeper
julie is the master of the cool and casual outfit! this look is pure preppy perfection with the pop of turquoise on her horn-rimmed classes perfectly complimenting her blonde hair and chambray dress.

the cat’s pajamas: (belated) birthday dress(es)
i always look forward to jessica’s outfit posts because this girl has a serious collection of beautiful vintage dresses. i love this incredible 1930’s polka dot dress that she got from liebemarlene!

liebemarlene vintage: reynoldstown
speaking of rhiannon, i just love this simple and elegant laid back look. and she’s wearing those awesome sandals that were recently featured in the alexa chung for madewell presentation. she’s got me wishing we had a madewell in the bay area!

jen loves kev: teacher style file
i absolutely love jen’s crisp and clean spring look. this is perfect outfit inspiration as we head into the weekend. i love the sophistication of the trench and dark denim skinnies paired with flats and a plaid blouse. so good!

my floor is red: will never be far from here
i just recently discovered this wonderful blog and fell in love with her lacey dress paired with black tights and cross necklace. the cream color of the dress keeps this romantic gothic look in perfect tune with the spring season ahead of us!

the snail and the cyclops: los angeles adventures
i love this photo taken off interstate 5 in california. since i’m from southern california and currently live in northern california, it’s an interstate that i know all too well, having done the 7 hour drive to visit family several times a year. it’s a particularly miserable and barren trip, but i love the way she captures the subtle beauty in this photo.

vintage portalen: spring, please come soon.
my mom just recently send me a silk dress with red polka dots very similar to this dress. i absolutely love the way she paired hers with a peach short sleeved cardigan, especially because peach and orange are certainly some of my favorite colors for spring!

fascination drop: break up the children, put them to sleep
i really enjoy this simple, casual ensemble with high rise shorts rolled up at the hem. i’m keeping my eyes peeled in the thrift shops for shorts just like these, since i think they’re the perfect spring staple this year. (warning: when you click on the link, her blog will play music.)

rosemud: goin’ to the country, gunna eat a lotta peaches
more of my favorite color! i absolutely adore this beautiful peach coat, especially paired with baby blue, socks with sandals, and a head wrap. it’s all of my favorite things wrapped up into a beautiful, haunting image.

stay fancy free: particularly merino
one of my favorite etsy sellers just came out with a new hand-knit turban headband. it’s the perfect accessory for this time of year, while it’s still a bit chilly out. and i love the way she styled it with a pretty vintage cape. you can purchase the simcoe turban headband here.

nadinoo: peak behind the scenes part 2
another one of my favorite designers, nadinoo, gave us a few sneak peeks this week into her spring collection. in my opinion, it’s her best collection yet! you can now purchase the first few pieces here. my personal favorite so far is fleur’s petal dress.

it came from outer space

oh hey guys, it’s just PARIS FASHION WEEK. and i wish i was there, but i’m not. but that’s ok, because i’ve got the internet. and i was a total insomniac the other day and compiled all my favorites thus far into little galleries. and i do declare that i’m rather enjoying the funky fresh vintage inspiration all over the runways, like giles fall 2010. each model looks like she just stepped off the set of a campy science fiction b movie with those big bouffants and retro silhouettes. the color combos are clean and refreshing and most importantly, it’s vintage inspiration for days. reminding me to be a little more playful when thinking of what to wear.

and with that, i leave you with a few detail shots of these furry googly eye handbags. perhaps they came from outer space!
