heinui fall 2016

it’s that time of year when more and more fall collections are coming out from all of my favorite independent designers. and my wish list is growing to ridiculous proportions, especially now that i’ve seen the heinui fall 2016 collection! this season, she’s introduced so many beautiful art prints mixed with some of her classic indigo styles in updated fits. i especially love her collections because each piece really stands out on it’s own yet is still surprisingly versatile. she uses beautiful, sturdy textiles like japanese cotton that can be worn simply with flats, while still being able to transition into a more dressy occasion with the right accessories.

outfit: true blue

calivintage - heinui jumpsuit

if i could only wear one color for the rest of my life, it would probably be blue. looking at my clothing rack, it is dominated by this indigo hue. even when i consciously try to avoid it in favor of something different, i inevitably fall back on it. so when i saw this jumpsuit by heinui i had to have it immediately. the only problem is that at the time, i also happened to be six months pregnant, so i’ve been patiently waiting for months to finally try it on! fortunately for me, it was worth the wait. it makes such a stunning statement, especially with this abandoned turn-of-the-century train station as the backdrop. and i just kept the outfit simple so that none of my accessories would compete with it.

it also comes in a few different options: short or long sleeve in indigo or chambray, and there is a dress version as well. they are all currently on sale along with a bunch of other amazing pieces, so you should go check it out!

heinui spring 2015

the new heinui spring 2015 look book is out, and i’m falling all over myself over here. last season, i was lucky enough to get my hands on one of her wrap dresses, and it quickly became a favorite. i was so impressed by the quality and workmanship, and the fit was just perfect. it is not every day that you find such a combination, so you’d better believe that i took note!

this season, i’m especially loving the whimsical blue prints and playful tropical motif! a perfect resort feel, but in practical and elegant designs that can be worn day to day. i think my favorite piece is that stunning kimono-style wrap dress up top with the all over water babe print. i want to wear it right now with a straw hat and sandals!

heinui fall 2014

today we have got to talk about the new heinui fall 2014 collection. you know i love a good hand motif, so of course i went a little nuts over the amazing embroidered details and intricate hand prints. the pretty details were mixed perfectly with workwear inspired pieces in japanese chambray and utilitarian silhouettes. the standout piece for me was a certain pinafore dress made of a black cotton twill with silver embroidered hands, and a few lovely smock dresses constructed around the same theme. but more than anything, i just love the way she was able to take such rugged materials and turn them into perfectly feminine and wearable pieces.

if you aren’t familiar with the brand, heinui was launched just last year by claire pignot, a graduate of the école supérieure des arts appliqués duperré who worked with gaspard yurkievich and peter som before breaking out on her own.

heinui spring 2014

i always get so excited when i discover a new independent designer. such was the case when i received a very lovely email from claire, the french designer behind heinui. her latest collection, titled “paper moon” is made up of exactly the types of clothes i want to be wearing right now. of the collection, the designer says:

this collection was inspired by vintage pinups pictures and old hollywood glamour. the looks are very feminine, simple and effortless, casual yet quietly sophisticated in a way.

sounds just about perfect, don’t you think? i especially love the way her designs are conscious of a woman’s body while still maintaining a relaxed ease about them; the types of clothes you know you can be comfortable in all day long. of course, i love her little rompers and casual shirt dresses, and even though i’ve never been huge on wrap dresses, that pretty number up top is making me completely rethink my stance! and can we talk about that amazing blue watercolor print? so good!
