one of my favorite fashion week traditions is getting the chance to visit with nina of family affairs. for the past few years, each season, i stop in with rebecca of the clothes horse to eat sweet treats, and coo over her latest designs. for spring, nina hand-illustrated all of the prints on clean white silk and cotton fabrics for a very light and whimsical effect. i was particularly smitten with the sixties-inspired silhouettes. not only that, but she’s also introduced a collection of housewares for the first time! i only snapped a few photos, but i promise to share the full look book once it’s ready!
outfit: nyfw day two
onto day two here in new york… this photo was snapped in williamsburg after another fun day. still trying to manage our jetlag, we woke up late before heading over to the etsy offices to visit with the lovely team of ladies behind the etsy editorial team. it’s so rare that i meet other people who have the same job as me in a professional setting, so it was lots of fun to talk shop and hear about how they run things there. not to mention getting to check out their beautiful work space. it’s pretty much just as lovely as you might imagine the etsy offices to be… filled with unique decorations, mismatched vintage desks, and beautiful art.
from there, we hopped on a ferry to take in the sights, and i split up with my team for a quick visit with nina of family affairs and rebecca of the clothes horse. all in all, it was a much more relaxed day than my first, but i still decided to lay low and skip out on the fno festivities to catch up on work.

my nyfw: samantha pleet spring 2013 presentation
on wednesday evening, i had the opportunity to attend the samantha pleet spring 2013 collection. it was shown at the wolverine store in soho in honor of her recent shoe collaboration with the brand. the collection was inspired by the ancient societies of the fertile crescent and the 19th century explorers that rediscovered them. you an certainly see the historical references in the intricately painted silk prints alongside that adorable three-piece shorts suit!

the lady on the left is samantha pleet herself. i love how she matches her model!
my nyfw: whit spring 2013 presentation
one designer that i’ve really enjoyed following the past couple of years is whitney pozgay. she started her career as an accessories and apparel designer at kate spade before moving on to steven alan and eventually starting whit in 2010. last season, she showcased some serious space age styles, and for her spring 2013 presentation, she brought a major dose of tropical paradise with campy prints, clean stripes, and simple silhouettes. added bonus? adorable straw hats by yestadt millinery and cute shoes by marais usa. a trio of favorites that always keep me coming back for more.
my nyfw: modcloth video series
in my last post, i mentioned working on a little video project. i’m actually here in new york hosting a series of videos for my work, and the above is the first of many to come. i’m not exactly experienced as a video host, but i have a really awesome little team who have been nothing but sweet and supportive, so i’m really excited to continue filming.
one of my favorite details of the series is the bob barker price is right microphone which our videographer tirelessly searched for on ebay for months. apparently they’re pretty rare because they were originally custom-made for bob barker so he could show off his fancy suits on the show. so it’s all the more fitting that we found one for our silly fashion videos.
outfit: nyfw day one
after spending an entire day in the airport on tuesday, i finally managed to catch a red eye flight into the city and arrived early wednesday morning. i got to the apartment where i’m staying, grabbed breakfast, and headed out for a very busy day. first stop, the lauren moffatt spring 2013 presentation where i wore this lovely new dress from her latest collection to take photos and film a fun video (which i will share tomorrow)! from there, i ran off to see whit, then met up with my modcloth coworkers to finish up yet another video shoot before heading out for the samantha pleet presentation. it was a very fun albeit very exhausting day. not sure exactly how i managed to make it through the day with only a couple of hours of sleep, but the fun and excitement of new york city, the shows, and the people seem to keep me going.
wearing: lauren moffatt fall 2012 dress (available soon), vintage salvatore ferragamo vara pumps
my nyfw: nyc bound
i’m currently sitting in the sfo airport watching planes that i will not board. today marks the first day of my trip to nyc, but as you can see, things have already gotten to a shaky start. i missed my flight even though i was in line 50 minutes prior to departure (long story). and i got the full treatment complete with grumpy airport clerks and crying babies. but i’m certainly not complaining. i’m now sitting in a quiet corner gazing out the window and enjoying a warm cup of coffee hoping that a few people on this next flight will have a similar fate as me, so i’ll be able to snag their seats and make it to nyc by tonight. fingers crossed!

loeffler randall girls on bikes
yesterday i caught a glimpse of this cute video by loeffler randall dedicated to their new rider bag. i love the classic satchel style, perfectly suited for fall. throw on a few strategically placed straps, and it’s also perfectly suited for fastening to your handlebars. i’d like this chic attachÁ© regardless, but those little details make all the difference when you’re getting ready to hop on your bike for a quick ride around town.
